1. Did you know Omega produced the watch that was worn by Buzz Aldrin, astronaut, for the first mission to the Moon? Yes and the model was the hand-winding Omega Speedmaster Professional Chronograph. This watch is now lost!
2. To mark the Golden anniversary of the Omega Speedmaster Professional Chronograph, in 2007 the Omega Company brought out a limited edition Speedmaster Professional Chronograph Moonwatch in commemoration of the first mission to moon.
3. Omega watches are also a favorite for James Bond. Mr. Bond is often shown wearing a gimmicky Omega Seamaster, deep diving time piece. The 2nd crown of the Omega Seamaster acts as a helium release valve. You can use this valve to let out the helium from the watch after you resurface from deep sea diving.
4. Omega watches and James Bond movies have a long standing association. This association is now in its 15th year. However, the relationship of Omega and Bond began when Pierce Brosnan was chosen to portray the role of James Bond. Brosnan started off with Omega Seamaster Quartz Professional in the Golden Eye. In the other movies he wore the Omega Seamaster Professional Chronometer.
5. In keeping with the tradition of the James Bond tradition, the franchise requested Omega to release a limited edition watch similar to the Omega Seamaster Professional Chronometer to commemorate the 40th anniversary of its existence in 2002. This watch was completely identical to the one worn by Pierce Brosnan in the movies but had the 007 (Bond's spy number) logo inscribed on the blue dial and on the back case. The watch's band was also inscribed with the 007 logo on its clasp.
6. The current James Bond, Daniel Craig also wears the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean in the movie Casino Royale. The 2nd limited edition James Bond watches was released in 2006 and the model was the same worn by Daniel Craig. In this model the 007 logo is inscribed on the second hand of the watch as well on the caseback and clasp.
