The sultry silver Omega Speedmaster Day-Date automatic chronograph watch replaces one of its chrono subdials with one that displays the date on the dial and day and month indicators within it. This precise chronograph timepiece will also help you keep track of your road training thanks to its tachymeter bezel. The large watch case measures 40mm wide (1.57 inches) and it's matched to a triple-link stainless steel bracelet that mixes brushed and polished finishes. Other features include a 44-hour power reserve, a scratch-resistant and glare-proofed domed sapphire crystal, and water resistance to 100 meters (330 feet)--offering protection from accidental splashes as well suitable for swimming, snorkeling, and light recreational diving.

This watch also features the Omega 3606 caliber automatic movement, which has been certified as a chronometer by the COSC (Swiss Official Chronometer Control). Only 3 percent of watches produced in Switzerland are "chronometer-certified." To achieve this highly coveted certification, the movements are subjected to numerous tests over a period of 15 consecutive days and nights, in five positions and at three different temperatures.

How to Use a Tachymeter
A tachymeter is an instrument for measuring speed. It is a chronograph with a graduated dial on which speed can be read off in kilometers per hour based on 1000 meters distance. For example, the chronograph indicates that the distance of one kilometer has been covered in 30 seconds. The corresponding point on the tachymeter scale indicates 120, and thus the speed is 120km per hour. This is an amazing watch. I searched high and low for the perfect time piece and I believe I have found it. This watch is beautiful... trust me, the pictures do it NO justice. Omega... need I say more?

I was a lttle wary about buying this watch online but I have been really pleased and have absolutly no regrets. You can just see and feel the quality from the moment you open the box to the time you slip it on your wrist. The watch is designed perfectly and looks great.
It never leaves my wrist.

This is the first review I've ever written -- a testament to the quality and my love of this watch.

This watch was given to me as a gift in 2004, and I can say without equivocation that it is the finest given I have ever received. My love for this watch is ineffable. The only time I take it off is when I play piano because it is heavy on my wrist. Otherwise, it's always on my person.

I've been tremendously [...] this watch, and it has held up well. There are some scratches on the band, but that is to be expected when you wear it everyday for 5 years. The face of the watch is still perfectly clean. But the true value in the watch is its stunning beauty. It isn't ostentatious or gaudy -- it's simply beautiful. It's understated and clean and dare I say, Perfect?

As mentioned by another reviewer, this looks way better on your wrist. The dial is whiter and the rest is shinier. Timeless, if you can say that about a time piece. As with any automatic it will be off by a minute a month. Worth noting if you're a swimmer like me, you can not operate the chronograph underwater and the timer is only capable of start-stop. Other than that, the price is hard to beat for a watch with this quality and advanced mechanics.

PLEASE NOTE: This watch does NOT have Omega warranty. Amazon is not an authorized reseller, so you are limited to a 2 year Amazon warranty. 6 months after purchase, day and date broke and had to be repaired. Not being from the U.S., I opted for a local repair instead of sending it to Amzon, and it cost me $300 to have it fixed. I do not critizie Amazon in any way, I knew this when purchasing the watch, but expected more from an Omega watch. Again, I do not have anything but praise for Amazon, but just be aware.

I bought this watch last January and I haven't had a minute of regret. I agree with everyone else's review in that the watch looks spectacular in person, so much better than in the photos, even the non-stock photos. Contrary to what others have experienced my watch only loses about 1-2 seconds a month.

The silver face really sets the watch apart and gives it a jewel like quality. Not that it's inexpensive by any means, but it looks like it costs a lot more than it does. Because of the silver face in certain light it can be difficult to read, but it hasn't dissuaded me from wearing it and a twist of the wrist changes the visibility. I am so happy with it I just bought another Omega. I don't think you can wrong with this watch.
